Tzyy-Sheng Lee

Tzyy-Sheng Lee (* 1965 in Taipei ) is a Taiwanese composer .

Life

Lee studied theory and composition at Taipei National University of the Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1988 . Until 1990 he served in the Taiwanese army. He then studied at Boston University (Master of Music) in Massachusetts and as a William Penn Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania (Ph.D). His teachers include Hwang-Long Pan, Yen Lu, Theodore Antoniou , Richard Wernick, Lukas Foss and George Crumb .

He won the ACL Yoshiro IRINO Memorial Prize in 1986 and the Open Composition Competitions in China several times. His works have been performed in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. He participated in the ISCM World Music Days , the aspects Salzburg , festivals of the Asian Composers League , the Aspen Music Festival , the Dresden Days of Contemporary Music and the Warsaw Autumn . His music was presented to the Tribune internationale des compositeurs in Paris in 1992 and broadcast on several radio stations around the world.

Since 1996, the professor has taught at Sun Yat-sen State University , the National University of Kaohsiung and the National Chiao Tung University .
