Aspects of Salzburg

Aspects Salzburg is a music festival for contemporary music that takes place every other spring in Salzburg .

history

The ASPECTS Salzburg in 1977 of Klaus Ager founded. Since that time, works by international composers of the 20th century have been performed in Salzburg in addition to works by Austrian composers. Successes included visits from John Cage (1991), Mauricio Kagel (1989 and 1998), Iannis Xenakis (1982), Alexander Knaifel (1983), Brian Ferneyhough (1996) and Gija Kancheli (2000).

At the 2006 Festival, at which, among other things, the Great Salzburg Composition Prize of the State of Salzburg was presented to Salvatore Sciarrino for the first time as part of a gala concert , Klaus Ager handed over the artistic direction to the composer Ludwig Nussbichler . Since then, the aspects have only taken place every other year.
