Ludwig Nussbichler

Ludwig Nussbichler (born January 11, 1963 in Adlwang , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian composer and music school director of the Salzburg City Music Center .

Life

Ludwig Nussbichler studied guitar and piano from 1973 to 1982 at the Rheintalische Musikschule Lustenau , from 1982 French at the University of Salzburg as well as music and instrumental education at the Mozarteum University . After receiving his diploma for teaching music education and French in 1988 and graduating with excellent results, he began teaching at the Musikum Salzburg. From 1989 he studied composition and music theory at the Mozarteum, a. a. with Gerhard Wimberger and Hans-Jürgen von Bose . In 1996 he attended the master class in composition at the International Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg with Friedrich Cerha . In 2000 he received his diploma in music theory and composition with excellent results.

Since 1999 he has been the director of the music school of the city of Salzburg, and in 2006 he was appointed artistic director of the Salzburg Festival . In addition, he is still a teacher at the Musikum in the subjects of composition, music theory and guitar. He is also director of the Salzburg federal state section at the Austrian Composers Association .

Nussbichler wrote numerous commissioned works, including a. for the ORF , the Musikverein Wien , the International Mozarteum Foundation and the Hilliard Ensemble . He is also the initiator of the Aspect SPIELRÄUME project , which plays a special role during the festival with the mediation of new music, especially for young people and children. In 2005 he took part in the Viva! MOZART Suite , an orchestral work commissioned by the Salzburg state government and created by eight composers in honor of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . Outside of Austria, his works have so far been performed in Germany , Great Britain , Russia , Japan and the USA .

For his work, Nussbichler received the composer's grant from the Austrian Chamber Symphony Orchestra in 1994, the annual grant for composition from the Salzburg provincial government in 1996, the Franz Kossak Prize from the Mozarteum Salzburg and in 1997 the state grant from the Republic of Austria. In 2007 he was awarded the prize for children and youth projects of the City of Salzburg's cultural fund for his Singspiel Der Zauberspiegel , which is endowed with 3,000 euros.

Ludwig Nussbichler currently lives in Salzburg and Paphos on Cyprus .
