The Asian Composers League ( ACL ) is an organization for contemporary music in the Asia- Pacific region.

history

The association was founded in 1973 by leading composers to promote Asian and new music in Hong Kong . There were three Japanese delegates under the leadership of Irino Yoshirō , six from Taiwan under Hsu Tsang-Houei and six from Hong Kong under Lin Sheng-Shih and Doming Lam . This was followed by meetings in Kyoto (1974) and Manila (1975) as well as Taipei (1976), Bangkok (1977) and Seoul (1978). Member countries are Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. The League regularly hosts the ACL Conference and Festival . Former ACL Chairs have included a. Lucrecia R. Kasilag , Sung-Jae Lee , Ramon P. Santos , Isao Matsushita, and Joshua Chan .
