Sungji Hong (* 1973 ) is a South Korean composer . She lives in Denton, Texas .
Life
She studied composition at Hanyang University (Seoul), the Royal Academy of Music (London) and with Nicola LeFanu at the University of York . She attended master classes and workshops in Royaumont and Darmstadt, where she was tutored by Brian Ferneyhough , Theo Loevendie , Jonathan Harvey , Tristan Murail , Péter Eötvös , Toshio Hosokawa and Zsolt Nagy .
Hong's works were u. a. Performed by the Nieuw Ensemble, Ensemble TIMF, Arditti Quartet , Ensemble Linea, Trio Mediaeval and the BBC Singers. Her music has been presented in 37 countries and major venues such as Carnegie Hall , the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts , the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig , the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. Her compositions have been released on the Dutton Record Label and Edition of Contemporary Music .
She won numerous international prizes, e.g. B. the ACL Yoshiro IRINO Memorial Prize and Theodore Front Prize.
