Zola Jesus (born April 11, 1989 in Phoenix (Arizona) as Nika Roza Danilova ) is an American singer-songwriter and music producer.

Career

Danilova recorded his first own songs at the age of 16. Two years later she began performing under the name Zola Jesus . Her voice, trained in opera singing, combines the melancholy sound of pop music from the 1960s with elements of today's Gothic Rock and Dark Wave . In 2010 she released four albums with Stridulum II , 2011 with Conatus , 2013 with Versions and 2014 with Taiga . She toured with Fever Ray in 2010, among others . After a joint appearance with JG Thirlwell at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2012, Zola Jesus announced that she would continue her collaboration with him.
