Retro Stefson is an Icelandic pop band from Reykjavík .
Band history
Founded as a school band in 2006, the band released their first album Montaña in 2009 , still exclusively in their former homeland, Iceland. On May 20, 2011, they released their second album Kimbabwe . At the beginning they turned towards rap , but the Icelanders , who now live in Berlin, soon expanded their spectrum. The songs are mainly sung in Icelandic, Portuguese and English.
style
Guitarist Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson describes the music style in an interview as follows: “We sound like Van Halen mixing a banana smoothie in his kitchen on a summer day.” It can hardly be classified in a well-known category. Borrowings from many different musical styles are combined.
