biography

Family / personal life

Tove Styrke is the daughter of the Swedish musician Anders Östman. He runs a music shop and introduced his daughter to the guitar as an instrument. However, Styrke preferred the piano, which she had been encouraged to do by her piano teacher, her grandfather. Her mother Anna, a former ballet dancer, runs a dance school and sent Styrke to dance lessons from an early age. Styrke has two sisters, one older and one younger.

Styrke made her first appearance as a singer in a local jazz band.

Career

Styrke took part in the sixth season of the casting show Idol , which she finished in third place. The covers they sang there already reached the middle of the Swedish charts. Shortly after the show ended, she was signed by Sony. Styrke then took the time to write songs for their first album. In June 2010 their first single "Million Pieces" was released, which was written by Adam Olenius ( Shout Out Louds ) & Lykke Li . On November 12, 2010, Styrke's debut album Tove Styrke was released , which reached the top of the charts and stayed there for 35 weeks.

The single "Call My Name", released in August 2011, served as the theme song for the talent show The Perfect Model , which was broadcast in spring 2012 by Vox. "Call My Name" is not on the original version of Styrke's debut album, but the album was released on March 23, 2012 in Germany with "Call My Name" and another new title, "Sticks And Stones".

Music genre

Styrke's music is a mix of pop and electro-pop. Allmusic describes their music as a combination of "the bubbling electronica of Robyn with the hipster synth pop of Annie and the hook-laden Euro-disco of September ." Styrke writes almost all of her songs herself.
