Chima [t͡ʃiːma], (born November 10, 1972 in Nigeria , actually Chimaobinna Enyiakanwanne Onyele ) is a Frankfurt musician who has been with the Universal Music Group since 2012 . He is a member of Brothers Keepers .

Career

In the mid-1990s, Chima performed with siblings Aisha and Ismael Abdallah as part of the English-language rap group Otropic T (h) ree . Their first record failed commercially, the group later broke up. The singer achieved his first chart successes in 2000 as part of Brothers Keepers , with whom he became known throughout Germany through the success of the top 4 single Adriano (Last Warning) . This was followed by his solo debut Reine Glaubenssache , which was released on EMI in 2002 and from which the two singles Ich leb das and Lass los were extracted. At that time, he went on tour as a support act with Herbie Hancock and began preparing for his second album In the Framework of Possibilities , which was released in October 2005 after a label change at Pelham Power Productions . The first single from the album, Wundervoll , was also played on the radio and shows the change from rapper to German-speaking reggae / soul singer.

In 2012 he was signed by the Universal Music Group. With the first label release, the single Morgen , he had his first chart placement. Similarities with the song Morgen by Herr von Grau caused a sensation among fans of both parties on Facebook and the picture .

At morning there is also a remix of Deichkind . A few weeks after the single was released, the album Stille followed , on which the singer Lary participated in the piece Little Things .

In November 2012, Chima played his only own tour so far under the title Merkst du was Tour .
