Herr von Grau
Herr von Grau is a former German rap duo from Lower Saxony . It consisted of Benjamin "Benny" Stottmeister (* 1981 in Wolfsburg ) alias " Lemur ", responsible for the raps and the beats , and Stefan Kraatz (* 1984 in Braunschweig ), the DJ , engineer and manager of the duo and also producer of the beats .
biography
Stottmeister started rapping when he was twelve. After some time as a solo artist, he became a member of the rap formation Feegefeuer.de . Later he was part of the electro-rap live act Der Aksel des Bad . Stottmeister started producing beats at the age of 19. In addition to rapbeats, he also makes rhythms of electronic dance music . Kraatz played drums in various bands of all genres . In 2004 he became the drummer of the Braunschweig post-hardcore band Nihilists. At the same time, he gained experience as a DJ at hip-hop jams . In 2005 he moved to Berlin and studied audio engineering there .
In early 2007 Stottmeister performed at a punk rock concert at SO36 in Berlin-Kreuzberg , where he met Kraatz. The two wanted to record a song for a sampler planned by Kraatz . This ended in a finished album, which was released in June 2007 under the title Blumenbeet . The video single The Great Pain was also released . Shortly afterwards the 2-track audio flyer Manni was recorded, copied and then hidden all over Berlin .
The second album Heldenplatz was released on April 6, 2009 via the label rappers.in . The second audio flyer was distributed in November 2008 in some of Germany's major cities . Mr. von Grau continued this principle with the distribution of the two other hidden CDs Eberhard (July 2009) and Detleph (June 2010). At the end of 2009, the duo decided to collect previous sampler contributions and exclusive tracks on the CD Internet music, which is limited to 100 copies . Herr von Grau made this work available as a free download . At the end of 2009 the duo separated from the rappers.in label . On May 28, 2010 Herr von Grau's album was released under the title Revue on the label Grautöne Records, which was founded after the separation . The album Freiflug was released on August 9, 2013 .
On April 29, 2014, Mr. von Grau announced the separation on their Facebook page. After that Benjamin "Benny" Stottmeister made music alone under the stage name Lemur . Since the separation, Kraatz has been working as a producer for FINN and as a sound engineer for various independent artists in his L26 studio.
