Aura Dione
Aura Dione or just Aura , real name Maria Louise Joensen (born January 21, 1985 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish singer-songwriter .
Life
Aura Dione is the daughter of a Faroese - French music teacher and her Danish - Spanish husband. Through her parents, who met at the Roskilde Music Festival , she came into contact with music , literature and art at an early age. For example, she wrote her first song at the age of five. Aura's father collects guitars , which also influenced her music career.
Her parents were hippies and sailed with her across the oceans until, when Aura was seven years old, they settled on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea , where she also attended school. At the age of 17 she went to Australia to continue her musical education. There she wrote many works that were influenced by the Australian Aborigines , among others . This encounter was later reflected in the song Something from Nothing . During this time Dione changed her concept of music. She designs almost all of her clothing, record covers and videos herself.
In 2008 she released the first single Something from Nothing on the Music for Dreams label in Denmark , followed by Song for Sophie and I Will Love You Monday . The Universal Music Domestic Pop ( "UDP"), a subsidiary of Universal Music, became aware of Aura Dione and took them under contract. Their first single outside Denmark, I Will Love You Monday (365) , was released in Germany on November 13, 2009. Compared to the version of the song released in Denmark, the debut single in German-speaking countries has its own refrain. The title made it into the top 10 straight away and ultimately even number one in the German single charts and number one in the German airplay charts . Dione's debut album Columbine was released on November 27, 2009 in Germany. I Will Love You Monday achieved platinum status in Germany. The second single, Song for Sophie , stayed in the German charts for a total of 22 weeks. On October 29, the third single from the album, Something from Nothing, was released . However, this could not build on the success of the predecessor.
On October 21, 2011, Geronimo was released as the first single from the second album called Before the Dinosaurs . Aura wrote the platinum number 1 hit with David Jost , who also produced the single. Geronimo reached number 1 in her home country, making it her most successful single in Denmark to date. In Germany, the song reached number 1 on the Media Control Charts immediately after its release. Aura Dione is the second Danish act after Gitte Hænning , who managed to land two number one hits in Germany.
Aura wrote her second single, Friends , together with David Jost and the American producer and songwriter team Rock Mafia . It reached the top 10 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark and achieved gold status in Germany with over 150,000 units sold.
The third single from the album is In Love with the World , which reached number 5 in Denmark, where it was released on May 28th. On September 28, 2012 the single was also released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The single entered Germany at number 59 and in Austria at number 38. In Switzerland, the single could not place in the charts. Meanwhile, the video was presented on MyVideo on September 19th.
On May 19, 2017, the third album "Can't Steal The Music" was released. The album missed the charts worldwide.
