Youth and club career

Schartner began his active career as a football goalkeeper at TSV Neumarkt in the state of Salzburg at the end of September 1996 . There he went through several youth league classes before he switched to the youth department of the traditional club SV Austria Salzburg for the first time in August 2002 as a cooperation player . After he stayed with the club until 2004 and only went back to his hometown club for a total of a few months in the meantime, he was signed by the Mozart townspeople in July 2004. So he belonged to the youth of SV Austria Salzburg until the beginning of April 2005, before the club was de facto bought up by Red Bull and reconstituted as FC Red Bull Salzburg .

End of August 2005 was Schartner as nearly 17-year-old to at this time in the third-class Austrian Regionalliga Mitte gambling FC Blau-Weiss Linz awarded. There he stood between the posts from the 4th round in all games of the autumn season.

At the beginning of March 2006 Schartner returned to his actual club in Salzburg.

After playing seven games for the U-19 team in the Toto- sponsored U-19 youth league with Salzburg in the 2006/07 season , he transferred to SV Seekirchen in the third-class regional league during the summer break before the 2007/08 season Center. There he made his team debut when he played the full game in the home game of the second round against SC Kundl in a 3-0 win on August 4, 2007 . Schartner was also in the Seekirchner goal when the team celebrated a 9-2 home win over Innsbruck AC on August 15, 2007 . After 23 league games as a loan player, Schartner returned to his home club in June 2008.

On 17 October 2008, the 20-year-old Schartner finally made his professional league debut after he ever sat in the 2006/07 season short time on the bench, the game of Red Bull Juniors Salzburg against when he SKN St. Polten from the start stood in the square. In the 46th minute of the game, however, he was replaced by the German Michael Kaltenhauser due to injury, as he had sustained a finger injury. His injury then lasted until December; his replacement in the goal of the Salzburg amateurs was mostly the 18-year-old Kaltenhauser. As Wolfgang Schober , the second great goalkeeper talent in the Red Bull Juniors squad , was not exactly easy to assert himself, Schartner made a total of nine league appearances despite his injury break. The other games were completed by his replacement Michael Kaltenhauser (eight missions) and Wolfgang Schober (17 missions). Already around two months before his league debut, Schartner made his competitive debut at the age of 19 when he played the full game in goal in the 7-0 win over FC Hallein 04 in the first round of the 2008/09 ÖFB Cup .

In the 2009/10 season, Schartner and his teammate Schober alternated in the goal of the Red Bulls Juniors. As a result, the talents of both players are promoted. Schartner was also involved in the 2009/10 ÖFB Cup , where the team, as in the previous season, was eliminated from the competition after only two rounds. In summer 2010, after playing 24 games for Red Bull Juniors, he and his team-mate Stefan Ilsanker moved to Bundesliga club SV Mattersburg .

On May 19, 2012 it was announced that Schartner will be transferring to SV Grödig on loan for the 2012/13 season.
