Ben Dolic

Ben Dolic (* 4. May 1997 as Benjamin Dolić in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian pop singer , the Germany at Euro Vision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam , entitled Violent Thing should represent.

life and career

His musical career began at the age of twelve when he took part in the Slovenian version of Das Supertalent in his home country and reached the semifinals of the competition with his interpretation of Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror . In 2016 he took part with his band D Base in the Slovenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 , but was eliminated in the semi-finals.

After moving to Switzerland at the age of 18, Dolic has been living in Berlin since the beginning of 2020 , where his girlfriend also lives.

The Voice of Germany 2018

With his participation in the eighth season of The Voice of Germany 2018 , he became known to a wider audience. In the Blind Auditions Dolic sang the song No Tears Left to Cry by Ariana Grande and decided on coach Yvonne Catterfeld . He made it to the final and finally took second place behind Samuel Rösch . He then went on tour with the other finalists in Germany and Austria .

Eurovision Song Contest 2020

In 2020 Dolic with the title Violent Thing was selected as the German representative for the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. For the first time since 2009, the contribution was selected internally by two specialist juries. The song Violent Thing was written by Borislav Milanov and his team, who had previously composed numerous ESC songs. Dolic should compete in the final on May 16, 2020. However, the ESC was canceled by those responsible in March 2020 due to the corona pandemic . Dolic will not be set directly for 2021, but will participate in the internal preliminary decision with a new song, which is also written by Milanov.
