Summary of the Backdoor Pilot episode

Bibi Blocksberg wants to go on a riding holiday at Martinshof, where she meets Tina. After the death of Tina's father, Martinshof fell into disrepair because Tina's mother lacks the money for necessary repairs. Therefore no more guests come. In addition, the count demands rent for the farm, which Tina's mother can no longer afford.

Since the count is rather rude, Bibi bewitches him. Thereupon he forbids his son to interact with Tina. After Tina's mother noted that history repeats itself, Bibi casts a time spell. Bibi and Tina see that the Count and Tina's mother used to be in love with each other. He had promised Tina's mother the fulfillment of a wish. When they remind the count, he stands by his word. And so the count pays for the renovation of the Martinshof.

characters

Bibi Blocksberg is a 13-year-old blonde girl who has a special ability: Bibi can do witches. She lives near Neustadt, in the suburb of Gersthof, but loves to spend her holidays at Martinshof. Bibi is a natural when it comes to riding. Already in the first riding lesson she shows so much skill that she is allowed to ride her favorite horse, the demanding gray mare Sabrina. In later episodes she is the mother of little Felix.

Bibi is extremely self-confident, cheeky and loves witches, which is why she uses witches' sayings several times in every episode - although Ms. Martin doesn't like it.

Tina Martin lives on the Martinshof. She is a year older than Bibi and loves horses. She particularly likes her own horse, the brown stallion Amadeus. Tina has red medium length hair. Although she cannot do witches, she often enjoys Bibi's magic, has a keen mind and is very resourceful, so that she can actively support Bibi in coming up with new pranks and plans. Furthermore, Tina tends to be jealous, which is often expressed in the fact that she reacts very sensitively as soon as her boyfriend Alexander von Falkenstein has contact with other girls or Tina seems to be neglecting her in some other way.

Mrs. Martin is Tina's mother. She lives alone with her children Tina and Holger on the Martinshof after her husband and Tinas and Holger's father were killed in an accident. Ms. Martin, whose first name is Susanne, is pretty, good-natured, fond of animals and children, and extremely sensible. She is responsible for the management and finances of her farm. These tasks turn out to be difficult at times, as their only income is the money that holiday children have to pay for their vacation at Martinshof. Ms. Martin is a gifted and passionate baker. Their butter cake is particularly popular. In the television series, she is not spoken of by Evelyn Meyka because Arianne Borbach fits a younger portrayal of the character better.

Holger Martin is Tina's big brother and Mrs. Martin's son. He is 18 years old and appears in many Bibi-and-Tina episodes. Tina and her brother often tease each other, but basically they love each other very much. Holger is the riding instructor at Martinshof and is responsible for the physically demanding farm work. Holger's stallion is called Pascal, who is gray and in the later episodes father of Felix.

Count Falko von Falkenstein is the owner of the Martinshof, which he leases to Ms. Martin. He is very wealthy and owns many fine horses. He prefers to ride his dark Arab mare Cleopatra. Although Falko often makes an arrogant impression and values good manners, he is very good-natured and by no means superficial. Instead, he has friendly relations with Mrs. Martin, with whom he was in a school class and had a liaison in his youth , and is not bothered by her middle-class income and simple background. He lives with his son Alexander at Falkenstein Castle. He owns numerous lands and forest properties in the area. Falko von Falkenstein has a goatee and therefore resembles a billy goat. The goat of Martinshof, Your Highness, is therefore named after the count.

Alexander von Falkenstein is the son of the count and is Bibis and Tina's age. Despite his rich father, he is not arrogant. Alex loves to ride, especially his black Arabian stallion Maharajah. Alexander often finds his father's meticulous behavior annoying, but still accepts him as an authority figure. That is why he usually obeys his will and also takes part in boring family get-togethers etc., although he has no desire to do so. That's why Bibi and Tina sometimes find him cowardly. Alexander, who is called Alex by most, is just like the two girls an avid horse lover.
