Key to My Soul is the third studio album by the German singer Sarah Connor . It was released on November 17, 2003 by X-Cell and Epic Records. The record reached number eight on the German album charts.

background

Key to My Soul is Connor's third studio album and was released before her first baby break. On this album too, Connor worked again with her production team, consisting of Kay Denar, Rob Tyger and Triage. Songwriter Diane Warren , who already wrote a song for Connor's second studio album, also contributed another song with I Want Some of That . The American R&B and hip-hop singer TQ was a guest singer on the mid-tempo number Love Is Color-Blind . Together they were on Connor's debut single Let's Get Back to Bed - Boy! represented. Love Is Color-Blind is about racist prejudice and calls for more tolerance. The soulful ballad I'm Gonna Find You (Osla Suite) comes from American producer Narada Michael Walden , who previously wrote songs for artists such as Aretha Franklin , Whitney Houston , Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder .

Two singles were released from the album, both of which reached number one in the German single charts. On November 3, 2003, the first single, Music Is the Key , was released, in which Connor collaborated with the New York a cappella band Naturally 7 . On November 8th, the song was premiered on TV by Thomas Gottschalk in Wetten, dass ..? presents. The second and final single, Just One Last Dance , was released on March 1, 2004 to shorten Connor's pregnancy break . For this she re-recorded the song with the band Natural , of which her partner Marc Terenzi was a member.

review

Eberhard Dobler from Laut.de awards two out of five possible points and says the album would fully satisfy the expectations of the mainstream and fans. He praises the quality of the productions, which do not have to hide from those of Christina Aguilera or Britney Spears . However, he misses sound experiments and innovative arrangements and writes that Connor doesn't dare to jump to the next sound level.

Matthias Reichel from Cdstarts.de gives the album 4 out of 10 points. He calls the advance single Music Is The Key ideal for the Christmas business due to its ballad-like bombast, but finds that the song's style and melody are brazenly copied from the song One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men. This impression is reinforced by the New York acapella band Naturally 7. Compared to the previous album , Key to My Soul is kept calmer. He criticizes that kitsch, bombast and everyday pop rule on the album and comes to the conclusion that the album is a pure waste of time and nothing more than well-intentioned elevator music.
