The Max-Planck-Gymnasium (MPG, also Maxe for short ) is, as a European school and MINT-EC school, one of two municipal high schools in Delmenhorst , where around 950 students are taught by 93 teachers in grades 5–13. For students in grades 5–10, it is run as an open all-day high school from Monday to Friday .

campus

The high school was founded in 1952. In 2001 it was renamed from Gymnasium on Max-Planck-Straße to Max-Planck-Gymnasium . It is called "Maxe" by the students. That is why the website is also called maxe-online.de. The campus of the Max Planck Gymnasium is divided into two locations. Houses A to C of the Großer Maxe are located at Max-Planck-Straße 4, which border the grafts of Delmenhorster Stadtpark to the south. Grades 7–13 are taught here. In addition to the grammar school, the campus also houses the municipal theater theater, Theater Kleines Haus .

Grades 5 and 6 are taught in the small Maxe in House D at Berliner Straße 54.

The school was founded as a linguistic grammar school and is a European school . The foreign languages English , French , Spanish and Latin are taught at the Max Planck Gymnasium . In addition, Italian can be learned in a study group. The Maxe offers bilingual subject teaching from year 7.

Since autumn 2017, the Max-Planck-Gymnasium has been one of 295 MINT-EC schools nationwide and thus a member of the Association of Mathematical and Scientific Excellence Centers at Schools . At the ceremony for the presentation of the MINT-EC certificate, the physicist and Nobel Prize laureate Klaus von Klitzing paid a guest lecture.

Since August 1, 1992, the Max Planck Gymnasium has offered a special educational program. From the 5th grade on, the students can choose a music profile in which, from the 6th grade onwards, they have an extra double hour of music lessons every week in which they rehearse songs together in an orchestra. The participating students undertake to play an instrument. These are presented to the public twice a year in the Kleines Haus theater .

From the 7th grade onwards, you have the option of joining the school's MINT profile. From grades 8 to 10, students receive in-depth lessons in the subjects of biology , chemistry , computer science , mathematics and physics . For the STEM classes there are preparatory elective offers in grades 5 to 7, which are offered as interest groups and working groups .

The school regularly achieves success in competitions such as Jugend forscht , Jugend trains for the Olympics and Mathematics Olympiads .

The Max-Planck-Gymnasium is one of the “Werder schools”, which work closely with the SV Werder Bremen association .

The goals of the cooperation are the promotion of teamwork and responsibility, the strengthening of social skills and the development of self-confidence, conflict tolerance and a sense of community in the students.

In order to be able to achieve these goals, soccer tournaments take place every year on the mini-playing field on Berliner Straße, for which grades 5 and 6 train during the breaks between classes.

The aim of the project is to convince children, adolescents and parents of the importance of a balanced lifestyle through healthy nutrition and exercise.

At the Max-Planck-Gymnasium, since 2011, in addition to the linguistic, natural science, social science or music-artistic subjects, it has also been possible to choose sports for the Abitur.
