Band history

In January 2014, the musical pre-production for the television program Sing mein Song - Das Tauschkonzert began in the “Schallschmiede-Studio” in Mannheim . On behalf of Schwartzkopff TV (now “Talpa”), band leader Mathias Grosch put together a band with musicians from the Rhine-Neckar region . In the studio, the band worked out the musical arrangements for the songs of all artists of the first season: Xavier Naidoo , Sarah Connor , Andreas Gabalier , Sasha , Gregor Meyle , Roger Cicero and Sandra Nasić ( Guano Apes ). In March 2014 the first season was produced in South Africa, where the band presented the songs together with the singers. The live recordings made there were later published in the form of a CD and DVD compilation on Naidoo Records. For the supplementary production Sing my Song - The Christmas Concert , the band was expanded by the percussionist Tilman Bruno.

The production of the second season “Sing my Song” took place from January to March 2015 in Mannheim and South Africa. The CD recordings were again made live in South Africa during filming, were released as a CD compilation Sing my song - the exchange concert Vol. 2 on June 5, 2015 and entered the German album charts at number one the following week. In addition to Xavier Naidoo, Christina Stürmer , Yvonne Catterfeld , Andreas Bourani , Tobias Künzel and Sebastian Krumbiegel ( Die Prinzen ), Hartmut Engler (singer of the band Pur ) and Daniel Wirtz took part in the second season .

The band also played in the third season of “Sing my Song” in 2016. In addition to Xavier Naidoo, Nena , Samy Deluxe , Seven , Sascha Vollmer and Alec Völkel from The BossHoss , Annett Louisan and Wolfgang Niedecken from BAP took part. In 2017, Sascha Vollmer and Alec Völkel from The BossHoss hosted the fourth season and the band accompanied the stars Lena Meyer-Landrut , Stefanie Kloß , Mark Forster , Gentleman , Moses Pelham and Michael Patrick Kelly . In 2018, the new host Mark Forster invited the stars Rea Garvey , Johannes Strate , Judith Holofernes , Mary Roos , Leslie Clio and Marian Gold to an exchange concert in South Africa and the band was there again - this time for the first time with Malte Horstmann as 2nd keyboardist.

In 2019 Ulrich Rode took over the position of guitarist for the 6th season, as Daniel Stelter wanted to devote more time to his solo career.

Music style / concept

The band's arrangements are stylistically very diverse. The songs can be assigned to the music genres pop, rock, jazz, reggae and folk music. The concept of the television format provides that known songs by one artist are presented live by another artist in an edited or newly arranged form.
