Katja Friedenberg (* 1986 in Bremen ) is a German pop singer who appeared in the live shows of the singing casting show The Voice of Germany in 2012 .

biography

Friedenberg grew up in Kassel , where she sang in a children's choir and, from the age of 12, in the children's and youth choir Cantamus of the Kassel State Theater . At the age of 15 she began to learn to play the piano and began taking singing lessons with the soprano Panagiota Tassiopoulou. In 2006 she received the Kassel Louis Spohr Award. In addition to the school and theater choir, she also sang in various pop bands. After graduating from the Wilhelmsgymnasium Kassel , Friedenberg began studying music and English in her hometown. But she also remained loyal to the choir of the Kassel State Theater. She is also the singer of the band Foreign 20 and, together with the pianist Thomas Höhl, winner of the Kassel Art Prize, forms the duo Sentimental Two.

At the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012, Friedenberg took part in the first season of the singing casting show The Voice of Germany . In the group of coach Xavier Naidoo she reached the live shows of the best 24 participants. There Naidoo chose her after her performance of the song Turning Tables by Adele among the best four candidates in his group of six. She was one of nine candidates whose contribution then placed in the German charts. In the second live show, she dropped out, although her foster father Naidoo was very positive. Her interpretation of the Grönemeyer hit " Planes in the Belly" was the best-placed of only two performances that made it into the charts. The second contribution came from Mic Donet , whom Naidoo had preferred in a direct comparison when making the coach's decision. She was the only one to place in Austria and Switzerland in the second week.

In the summer of 2012, Friedenberg and Rüdiger Skoczowsky (who also participated in The Voice of Germany ) could not be heard back in the background at Xavas and their single Schau . The single won the Bundesvision Song Contest in 2012 , placed second in the German single charts and was awarded a gold record . In 2013, Friedenberg was involved in Naidoo's The Voice project Sing for Your Life .

In 2014 she won the award for “Best Newcomer” in the Bauer Media Group's “My Star of the Year” election and released her first own song, Halt mich fest . Since the same year she has been a background singer in the VOX series Sing mein Song - Das Tauschkonzert .
