Mic Donet [mɪk dɔne] (* 1979 in Munich ; actually Michael Schuppach ) is a German soul singer and songwriter who lives in Berlin .

biography

Michael Schuppach grew up in a musical family in Munich. In the second half of the 1990s he was a breakdancer and part of the Munich crew Step 2 Diz . There he was discovered by a label scout for singing and in 2001 he signed his first solo contract. Three years later he released his first album entitled " Stille Wasser " on Sony Music under the name "Mic" . With the song Jemand da , he reached number 89 in the German charts. He accompanied stars like Carlos Santana , Stevie Wonder , Keith Tynes , Aloe Blacc and Erykah Badu as opening act and background on their tours. During a six-month stay in the USA, he was voted International Act of the Year in a competition in Las Vegas in 2006.

After returning to Germany, he decided to take a new direction. He split from Sony Music and began working on an album of English-language songs. He also changed his stage name to "Mic Donet", derived from the Latin Donatus in allusion to the singing talent he was born with. In 2008 he won the international soul / R&B competition Version 0.1 organized by rapper Timati in Moscow . In the same year his album Plenty of Love was completed. However, the release was postponed, in the following time Mic Donet was on the road with the new songs as a live musician.

In 2011 he first took part in the German singing casting show X Factor , but left there voluntarily after the first round. A little later he qualified for the live shows of the singing casting show The Voice of Germany , which took place in early 2012. He came as one of three participants with both vocal contributions from the first two live shows through sales in the internet music shops in the German music charts . In the group of coach Xavier Naidoo he reached the semi-finals of the best eight participants. The self-composed song Losing You , performed by him in the semi-finals, reached number 36 in the German and 18 in the Swiss charts. A few months later, the album Plenty of Love was released and entered Germany at number 4. In October of the same year Donet was also involved in Naidoo's The Voice project Sing for Your Life .

In early 2013, the Cameroonian singer Irma released her track I Know in a duet version with Mic Donet. In the summer of 2017, the rapper Olli Banjo released his album 'Großstadtdschungel' in which Donet was featured as a feature . In autumn 2017 Donet was a guest at Xavier's request concert Live , a broadcast by his mentor Xavier Naidoo.
