Xavier's Request Concert Live was a television show broadcast on Sky One in 2017 .
concept
The musician Xavier Naidoo and Sky presenter Esther Sedlaczek welcome four guest musicians per episode . Each guest and Naidoo present three songs from their own repertoire and name two further song requests, so that a total of 25 songs is available for the evening. Before each performance, a viewer is put through to the studio, who then decides which song will be played next. Naidoo then makes the decision which artist should sing the said song. Before the performance, the artists can retreat briefly and go through the song together with the voice trainer Rüdiger Skoczowsky . After all appearances, the studio audience determines the winner of the show. A winner will also be chosen from all callers, with a living room concert chosen by the participating artists. The living room concert will be broadcast by Sky 1 as part of the program Your wish concert .
The show takes place live in the manufactory in Mannheim's harbor district. The studio can accommodate around 120 guests. The singers are accompanied by the band The Wright Thing from Heidelberg .
Even after Naidoo was criticized again from April 2017 for the closeness of its lyrics to right-wing populists , conspiracy theorists and constitutional enemies, Sky continued to stick to the program.
