Hold Me Now is a song by the Irish singer Johnny Logan and the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 in Brussels . Logan had already won the Grand Prix in 1980 with What's Another Year .
history
Logan had written the ballad himself. On the evening of the Eurovision Song Contest Logan appeared 20th out of 22, after Anne Cathrine Herdorf & Bandjo with En lille melodi and before Novi Fosili from Yugoslavia with Ja sam za ples . At the end of the vote, the song had 172 points.
After Logan won, he exclaimed, referring to his previous win, "I still love you, Ireland". On the following repetition, overwhelmed by his emotions, he could no longer sing the high notes.
The song reached number one in Ireland and high chart positions in many other countries.
