The 32nd Concours Eurovision de la Chanson , the official title for that year, took place on May 9, 1987 in the Palais du Centenaire in Brussels . Italy and Greece participated again.
particularities
Irishman Johnny Logan won for the second time since 1980 - a unique event to date. This time the singer wrote the song, Hold Me Now , himself. In return, Turkey only reached the twenty-second and last place, despite an exciting dance performance, with zero points. The host's song, Soldiers of Love by Liliane Saint-Pierre , made it into the top half with eleventh place. A rotational basis, it was on Dutch sung after last year the winning song J'aime la vie by Sandra Kim on French had been carried forward. Sandra Kim also appeared at the finale and presented the award.
For Germany, the group Wind took part for the second time with the title Let the sun in your heart , whose contribution landed again in 2nd place. In contrast to For all of 1985, which came from Hanne Haller , this article was written by Ralph Siegel and Bernd Opinion . Switzerland was only 17th with Carol Rich and Moitié-moitié , Gary Lux only achieved 20th place for Austria with Just Feeling . Turkey received zero points from the European juries, which the singer and the Turkish press did not attribute to the musical quality, but described it as a politically motivated "scandal".
Attendees
There was no country that participated for the first time; however, as Greece and Italy returned to the ESC, there was a new record with 22 participating countries. The following performers returned to the competition:
