Eurovision Dance Contest
The Eurovision Dance Contest was a dance competition organized by the European Broadcasting Union , which is also responsible for the Eurovision Song Contest and Junior Eurovision Song Contest . In it, couples from different countries competed against each other. It was supposed to take place annually, but there were only two editions in 2007 and 2008. The third edition, which should have taken place in 2009, was only postponed until 2010 and finally suspended indefinitely.

In the competition, each country sent a dance couple into the race. Each couple performed two dances, the first being a classical tournament dance and the second having elements typical of the country. An expert commented on the performances for each country. The audience finally chose their favorite pair by televoting, whereby not only the dance performance, but also the choreography as well as the choice of music and costume should be taken into account.
The first edition of the show was held on September 1, 2007 by the BBC in London. The BBC also organized the second edition in 2008.
In the second edition Poland won with the couple Edyta Herbuś & Marcin Mroczek with 154 points. It is also noteworthy that before the televoting they only had 20 out of a possible 48 points from the jury.
The 3rd Eurovision Dance Contest originally planned for September 2009 was to take place in the Azerbaijani capital Baku . Due to the low level of interest on the part of national television stations, the competition was postponed to autumn 2010. Azerbaijan remained the host. In January 2010, Svante Stockselius announced that the Eurovision Dance Contest would no longer take place for the time being.
