Benjamin Finkenrath (born January 7, 1986 in Cologne ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with the Kassel Huskies from the Oberliga .

Player career

Benjamin Finkenrath began his career with Jungadler Mannheim in the German Junior League before he moved to the juniors of Starbulls Rosenheim . For the senior team of the Starbulls he was also on the ice in the Bavarian Ice Hockey League in the 2003/04 season . Before moving to Heilbronn, Finkenrath played for the Eislöwen Leipzig and the Mittelrhein Bären in the upper league . Due to their goalkeeping problems, Finkenrath completed his first DEL game for Adler Mannheim , the Falken's cooperation partner, during the 2006/07 season .

In summer 2007 he decided to move abroad and from then on went on the ice for the Nijmegen Devils from the Dutch Eredivisie . After one season he left the club and joined the league competitor Smoke Eaters Geleen , for which he completed 16 games and conceded an average of 3.34 goals per game. For the 2009/10 season Finkenrath returned to Germany when he signed a contract with the upper division EHC Dortmund. After the main round, he was named goalkeeper of the year by a panel of experts consisting of trainers, managers and specialist journalists. In June 2010 he signed a one-year contract with Moskitos Essen before he returned to Dortmund in summer 2011.

Between 2012 and 2014 Finkenrath went on the ice for the Kassel Huskies and ended his career in 2015.
