The 8th Eurovision Young Dancers took place on July 10th, 1999 at the Opéra de Lyon in Lyon , France . The host was France 3 , which hosted the event in 1989 . This made France the first country to host the competition more than once.

The winner was the German dance couple Katja Wünsche & Stegli Yohan with their dance Cinderella . It was the first time that Germany could win the competition and the first time since 1989 that a country other than Spain could win the competition. The Swedish dancer Nathalie Nordquist landed in second place. It was Sweden's third place in a row in the top 3. On the other hand, the Spanish dancer Clara Blanco landed in third place. It was the first time in ten years that Spain did not come out on top.
