The 5th Eurovision Song Contest took place on March 29, 1960 in the Royal Festival Hall in London, as the Netherlands , which won last year, did not want to host the competition again. The moderator was Katie Boyle, who presented the competition four times until 1974.

  • In the fifth Eurovision Song Contest, there was a new record of participants with thirteen countries. After Denmark and Sweden, Norway was the third Scandinavian country to take part for the first time. Luxembourg returned after a one-year break.

    Voting procedure

    The voting procedure remained unchanged. Again there were 10 jury members in each country, each of whom was allowed to give one vote to a song. The results were communicated by telephone and publicly.
