The 13th Eurovision Young Dancers took place on June 14, 2013 in the Baltic State Opera, in Gdansk , Poland . The competition was organized by TVP , which hosted the event for the third time since 1997 and 2005 .

The winner was the Dutch dancer Sedrig Verwoert with his dance The 5th Element . It was the Netherlands' second win in the competition, having last won in 2005 . The German dancer Felix Berning landed in second place with his Tanz Home .

venue

TVP selected the Baltic State Opera in Gdansk as the venue . It was the third time that Poland hosted the event. The stage design was designed by Michał Białousz in 2013.

format

Dancers between the ages of 15 and 21 could perform. However, only solo dancers or couples could compete. There were two rounds in the final. In the first round, all participants compete against each other, while a professional jury selects the two best participants for the final duel. There the two dancers perform another dance and the jury then determines the winner and second place. The professional jury in 2013 consisted of the following people:

Moderation

The Polish presenter Tomasz Kammel acted as moderator. For the first time in the history of the EYD there were also two moderators who were only used in the Greenroom . These were Michael Nunn and William Trevitt.

A total of ten countries took part in 2013, as in 2011. Belarus made its debut in the competition in 2013, while Greece, Kosovo, Croatia and Portugal all canceled their participation. However, the Czech Republic returned to the competition after eight years and Armenia and the Ukraine after ten years.

final

The final took place on June 14, 2013. Ten participants competed against each other, of which two participants qualified for the final duel.
