Belaruskaja Tele-Radio Campanija (short: Belarusian Белтэлерадыёкампанія , Russian Белтелерадиокомпания , German  Belteleradiokampanija ) is the state broadcaster in Belarus . It unites state radio and state television under one roof and has existed in its current form since August 1994.

Society

The company uses the abbreviation Belteleradiokampanija, often in Russian spelling , as a self-designation, for example in copyright notices . The long form it is called Belarusian Нацыянальная дзяржаўная тэлерадыёкампанія Рэспублікі Беларусь , transliteration Nazyjanalnaja dsjarschaunaja teleradyjokampanija Respubliki Belarus , Russian Национальная государственная телерадиокомпания Республики Беларусь (НГТРК) , German National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus .

The company's head office and the television headquarters are located in Minsk on Makajonok Street (ulitsa Makajonka; ул. Макаенка, 9, Минск, 220114) near the Chelyuskintsev Park . The radio is mainly located on Krasnaya Street (ulitsa Krasnaya, ул. Красная, 4, Минск, 220114) not far from the former television center at the foot of the Minsk TV tower in the city center. Only Radius FM has its headquarters at a different location near the cultural institute.

In addition, there are subordinate radio and television companies in Mogiljow , Gomel , Vitebsk , Grodno and Brest Belteleradiokampanija , which organize their own regional radio and television programs.

history

Belteleradiokampanija goes back to the beginnings of radio in 1925 and television in 1956 in Belarus. The first channel radio program is a successor to the first Belarusian radio station, which began broadcasting on November 15, 1925 at 6:30 p.m. local time in Minsk. The television program Belarus 1 in turn goes back to the first Belarusian television station, which went on air on January 1, 1956 as Belarusian television ("Белорусское телевидение").

Since January 1993 the predecessor of Belteleradiokampanija, Gosteleradio was a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Belteleradiokampanija took over this membership as his legal successor and continues it to this day.

On August 17, 2020, there were protests and strikes against the president as a result of the 2020 presidential election in Belarus . The state television Belarus 1 was also on strike, initially showing an empty studio and later repetitions of older programs.

Programs

The Belteleradiokampanija organized five nationwide TV channels, an international satellite and several regional television programs and as well as five national radio programs. It is broadcast in Belarusian, but mostly in Russian.
