Établissement de la radiodiffusion-télévision tunisienne (ERTT; Arabic مؤسسة الإذاعة والتلفزة التونسية, DMG muʾassasat al-iḏāʿa wa-t-talfaza at-tūnisiyya ) was the state broadcaster of Tunisia until 2007 . On September 1, 2007, the company was split into a radio ( La radio tunisienne ) and a television part ( La télévision tunisienne ). Both ERTT successor companies are members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

history

Before 1930 the long-wave transmitters Tunis-Kasbah and Radio-Cartaghène existed . In 1935 stations were set up in Bizerte (Georges Solet, approx. 1430 kHz) and Sfax (André Costa, approx. 1415 kHz), before Radio Tunis PTT with the transmitter in Djedeida went into operation on October 15, 1938 (868 kHz, 20 kW) . After Tunisia gained independence in 1957, Radiodiffusion Télévision Tunisienne (RTT) was formed. Television has existed since May 31, 1966. In 1990 the Établissement de la radiodiffusion télévision tunisienne (ERTT) was created; In 2007 radio and television were separated.
