The Société nationale de radiodiffusion et de télévision (SNRT; Arabic الشركة الوطنية للإذاعة والتلفزة, DMG aš-šarika al-waṭaniyya li-l-iḏāʿa wa-t-talfaza ; Moroccan Tamazight ⵜⴰⵎⵙⵙⵓⵔⵜ ⵜⴰⵏⴰⵎⵓⵔⵜ ⵏ ⵓⵏⵣⵡⴰⵢ ⴷ ⵜⵉⵍⵉⴼⵉⵣⵢⵓⵏ Tamssurt Tanamurt n Unzway d Til Customyun ) has been the state broadcasting company of Morocco since 2005 . It operates seven television programs as well as four national and ten regional radio programs. It is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and involved in Euronews .
history
The first radio station in Morocco was Poste Oméga in Casablanca by Gabriel Veyre in 1925 . In 1928 the state-run Radio-Maroc (also Radiodiffusion Marocaine , RM) started operations in Rabat. The Lucerne Wave Plan of 1932 assigned Rabat the frequency of 601 kHz. Television started on March 3, 1962. In 1966, Radio-Maroc became Radiodiffusion Télévision Marocaine (RTM) with its own legal personality. In 2002, the state radio and television monopoly from 1924 ceased to exist. In 2005, RTM became part of the SNRT joint stock company.
