Societatea Română de Radiodifuziune ( SRR for short , German Romanian Radio Society ) is the public radio broadcaster in Romania based in the capital Bucharest .

history

The station started operations on November 1, 1928 with a speech by the Romanian radio pioneer Dragomir Hurmuzescu . From the start, the radio house was housed in the building at General-Berthelot-Straße No. 60, which was destroyed in a German bombing raid in August 1944. It was rebuilt after the end of the Second World War and relocated in 1952. The station is still based there today. In addition to the editorial offices and studios for the production of the programs to be received nationwide, the in-house publisher Casa Radio and the SRR-operated RADOR news agency are also located there .

SRR today

SRR produces three nationally receivable programs ( Radio România Actualități , Radio Antena Satelor and Radio România Cultural ) as well as nine regional programs ( București FM , Radio Cluj , Radio Constanța , Radio Vacanța , Radio Craiova , Radio Iași , Radio Reșița , Radio Târgu Mureș and Radio Timișoara ), also in the minority languages ​​German, Hungarian and Serbian. For the international broadcaster is Radio Romania International  responsible. In the neighboring Republic of Moldova , the program is Radio Chisinau broadcast.

The programs are broadcast terrestrially via VHF , medium wave , satellite and DAB and broadcast via the Internet via live stream. Radio Romania International also uses shortwave .

The station is run by a board of directors, chaired by Ovidiu Miculescu.
