Télévision Tunisienne 1 ( Arabic التلفزة التونسية ـ الوطنية 1) is a state-owned Tunisian television broadcaster . It is the oldest Tunisian broadcaster and can be received by 99.8% of the population of Tunisia.
In 2006 the station had a market share of 52.2%, in 1999 it was 80%. In 2007 he lost his management position to Hannibal TV , which he has since regained.
history
On October 1, 1965, a test run of the television station was started. It was broadcast for an hour and fifteen minutes, the station could be received in Tunis including the suburbs. A second, longer test run started on October 29th. On May 31, 1966, broadcasting officially began under the name RTT ( Arabic إ.ت.ت), the abbreviation for Radiodiffusion-télévision tunisienne . In 1967 the station broadcast three hours a day, two in Arabic and one in French.
From 1976 onwards it was broadcast in color. In 1983, a second program was started with RTT 2 and the station was renamed RTT 1 accordingly .
The station was launched in 1992 in TV7 ( Arabic قناة 7) renamed. The number 7 in the new name referred to the takeover of power by Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali in Tunisia on November 7, 1987. This renaming was part of a cult around the number 7 in Tunisia, with which the regime exerted its power in a subtle way in public Represented space. In 1997 the name was changed to Tunis 7 ( Arabic تونس 7) and finally in 2008 in Tunisie 7 ( Arabic تونس 7) changed.
In the course of the revolution in Tunisia in 2010/2011 and the fall of Ben Ali, the station got its current neutral name in January 2011.
