NPO 2 (until August 19, 2014 Nederland 2 ) is a Dutch television broadcaster. NPO 2 is the second national television program of the Nederlandse Publieke Omroeps . The television station is based in Hilversum .

Regular broadcasting of NPO 2 began in October 1964 after a test image had already been broadcast in order to set the television sets. Analogue broadcasts via antenna were exclusively in the UHF range, so the range was less than with NPO 1 . However, since the switch to digital aerial television , the range has changed. Encrypted transmission via satellite . Since July 4th, 2009 NPO 2 has also been broadcasting in HD. In 1990 Nederland 2 was renamed TV2 , but got its old name again in 2000. Since September 4, 2006, the station has had its current profile as an "in-depth" station. On August 19, 2014, the station was renamed NPO 2.

In Germany, NPO 2 can be received digitally in North Rhine-Westphalia in the cable television network of NetCologne as well as NetAachen and Unitymedia . Since September 2, 2015, however, it can only be received as Pay TV. However, the station can still be freely received via Unitymedia.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, NPO 2 can be received digitally in the cable television network of Unitymedia . The analog feed-in in border regions was discontinued with the termination of the analog distribution in the Unitymedia cable network in June 2017.
