NPO 3FM (formerly 3FM , Radio 3 and Hilversum 3 ) is a public radio program from the Netherlands .

history

NPO 3FM went on air in 1965 under the name Hilversum 3 . In Hilversum are the studio complexes of the public broadcasting company ( Publieke Omroep ) of the Netherlands. The program should be pirate channels such. B. Radio Veronica chased away listeners who had turned away from public radio due to the lack of a music-oriented offer for young people and who also had many listeners in neighboring countries. Pop music was played during the day and entire albums by individual artists and bands of pop and rock music were broadcast in the evenings . The high point on Friday afternoon was Avro's TopPop, which set the tone as a weekly chart show in the 1970s and early 1980s.

In 1985 the name of the wave was changed to Radio 3, and then to 3FM in the 1990s. Since August 19, 2014, the station has had the addition of NPO in its name.

NPO 3FM is now a music radio primarily with pop , rock, dance and house music for younger listeners. The claim is “Music starts here”.

NPO 3FM has been broadcast on a nationwide FM station chain in the Netherlands since the start of broadcasting. In the German border region, the station can also be received in Düsseldorf and Cologne . You can also listen to the station online via livestream . For some time now it has also been possible to receive the program via satellite , but this distribution channel is encrypted.
