NPO 3 (until August 19, 2014 Nederland 3 ) is a Dutch television broadcaster. It is the third national television program of the Nederlandse Publieke Omroeps . The station is aimed primarily at children, adolescents and young adults.
From 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., NPO 3 shares airtime with the brands Z @ pp and Z @ ppelin. Z @ ppelin's program is aimed at toddlers and Z @ pp at older children. Regular broadcasting of NPO 3 began on April 4, 1988, after a test image had been broadcast since autumn 1987 in order to set the television sets. On January 1st, 1988 at midnight Maartje van Weegen wished a Happy New Year in a first test broadcast. Further test broadcasts followed on February 13, 1988 at 7:12 p.m. These were unofficially used as an additional channel for live reporting from the Winter Olympics in Calgary , but could only be received in part of the Netherlands. Analogue broadcasts via antenna were exclusively in the UHF range, so the range was less than with NPO 1 . However, since the switch to digital aerial television DVB-T , the range has changed. Encrypted transmission via satellite DVB-S . Since September 4, 2006, the station has its current profile.
The broadcasts of the sender include or included u. a. the Sesame Street and Top of the Pops .
