The castle Dieburg , including Castle Dieburg or Albinisches Castle called, is located in Dieburg in Darmstadt-Dieburg in Hesse and was the Dieburger fortification connected.
history
In the middle of the 12th century, a moated castle was founded between three older villages on the Gersprenz by the Hohenstaufen ministerials and the lords of Hagen-Münzenberg . At the same time, a city complex was built east of Dieburg Castle.

The moated castle had a square floor plan with a side length of 60 meters, an outer kennel and a keep in the middle of the castle courtyard.
A bridge over the Gersprenz led to the castle, which was further connected to Dieburg's city fortifications by two stone walls.
Today a corner tower of the Zwinger ("Schlossturm") as well as remnants of the Zwinger walls and the "Albini Castle" are preserved. Baron Franz von Albini , the Hessian Landgraf Ludwig X. gave the castle for his many services in 1802, 1809 was almost all buildings and wall remains lay and the southern area a rectangular castle complex , the Albinischloss build.
The stone walls that connected the castle walls with the Dieburg city wall, the northern brook jump over the Gersprenz and the castle bridge from the 16th century have also been restored today.
To the east between the castle tower and Albini Castle, the neo-Gothic former district office of the old district of Dieburg was built in 1902/03 . The new district office built to the north was completely renovated and rebuilt in 2015-2017. After the work is finished, the northern view will be greatly changed.
The mill tower and a stump of the witch tower are still preserved from Dieburg's city walls , which were demolished in the 19th century .
