The 7th Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson Européenne , the official name for that year, took place on March 18, 1962 in the Villa Louvigny in Luxembourg . Mireille Delannoy moderated the event.
particularities
The winner was Isabelle Aubret , who represented France with the song Un premier amour . The Austrian contribution Nur in der Wiener Luft reached last place with three other contributions with zero points. The contribution from Switzerland , Le Retour , reached number 10.
As a result of the new voting procedure, four songs received no points for the first time. There were contributions from Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Spain.
For Germany, the winning title of the German Schlager Festival 1962 in Baden-Baden, Two little Italians with Conny Froboess , was sent into the race. The German contribution achieved sixth place with nine points, none of which came from Italy . Nevertheless, the title became a million-dollar hit and is still a popular evergreen today , which was able to score internationally in the following period.

Voting procedure
After the Hessischer Rundfunk in particular criticized the fact that the same countries always win, the voting procedure was changed. The juries first determined an internal order. Then only the points of the first three were publicly communicated - the best song received 3, the second best song 2 and the third best song one point.
