The 9th Euro Vision Young Dancers was held on 18 June 2001 Linbury Studio Theater in London in the UK instead. The host was the BBC , which hosted a Eurovision Young Dancers for the first time.
The winners were the Polish brothers David & Marcin Kupinski with their Tanz Brothers . It was the first time that Poland could win the competition. Belgian dancer Jeroen Verbruggen, on the other hand, came in second. 3rd place went to the Dutch dance couple Maartje Hermans & Golan Yosef.

The BBC selected the Linbury Studio Theater in London as the venue . It was the first time the UK hosted the competition.
format
Dancers between the ages of 16 and 21 could perform. However, only solo dancers or couples could compete. There was another semi-final, as the number of participants would otherwise exceed the time frame. There all 18 participants competed against each other, of which only eleven qualified for the final. There was still a professional jury, but this again awarded 1st to 3rd place. The chairman of the jury was the British choreographer Matthew Bourne . The other jury members were:

The British dancer Deborah Bull acted as moderator.
Attendees
A total of 18 countries took part in Eurovision Young Dancers 2001, two more than in 1999. The 18 participating countries from 2001 are record holders to this day, as no other edition of the competition had so many participants. France, Spain and Hungary withdrew from the competition. However, Ireland and Ukraine made their debuts. For the latter, it was the first time they took part in a Eurovision competition. Estonia also returned to the competition after four years and Norway and Austria after six years.
Semifinals
The 2001 semi-finals took place on June 18, five days before the final. The following countries have already been eliminated in the semi-finals:
