Due to a lack of interest, the television broadcaster of last year's winner Italy, RAI, declined to host the event for 2015. The Bulgarian broadcaster BNT announced on January 26th, 2015 that they would host the contest.
On March 30, 2015 it was announced that the competition would take place at Arena Armeec Sofia .
format
Moderation
The show was moderated by Poli Genova , who represented Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf and who was eliminated with twelfth place in the second semifinals. In 2016 she took part again in the Eurovision Song Contest , where she took fourth place in the final with the song If Love Was a Crime .
logo
On June 23, 2015, the EBU published the logo of the event in cooperation with the hosting television broadcaster BNT. The focus is on a dandelion whose seeds are carried away by the wind.
Official song
The official song of JESC 2015 Discover was sung by Krisia Todorova, who finished second for Bulgaria in 2014.
Postcards
The so-called “postcards”, which are shown before the participants' performances, dealt with three young people who were traveling through Bulgaria and visiting various sights. They were inspired by selfies of the individual participants, which show them a famous place in their own country.
Attendees
countries
On October 7, 2015, the final list of participants for the competition and simultaneously Australia's debut was announced. A total of 17 countries took part. Albania and Macedonia returned to the competition in 2015, while Ireland joined Australia for the first time. Cyprus, which could not raise the financial means to participate, withdrew from the competition, as did Sweden and Croatia. This JESC, together with the 2007 edition, was the largest since 2004 and the first since 2008 without a Scandinavian country.
