This article looks at the history of France as a participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest .

Preliminary decisions

In 2004 there was a preliminary decision with 11 participants. The participant for 2018 was determined internally.

Participation in the competition

After finishing sixth in 2004, France 3 decided to leave the competition because the motivation was no longer there and "too much Eurovision is destroying Eurovision".

On November 18, 2015, Vladislaw Jakowlev, the JESC supervisor, announced that a delegation from French television led by the new head of the delegation Edoardo Grassi was on site in Bulgaria and that he was very interested in France's return to the competition in the near future.

This return will take place in 2018.
