This article deals with the history of North Macedonia as a participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest .

By the Macedonia naming dispute between Greece and northern Macedonia, the country was until 2018 when JESC with the bulky name Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia referred ( English : former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) , French : Ancienne République Yougoslave de Macédoine (ARYM) ) . The abbreviation FYR Macedonia was displayed as the English subtitle . Since the land in 2019 in northern Macedonia was renamed, it occurs at the event under this name (English: North Macedonia , French: Macédoine du Nord ) on.

From 2003 to 2011, smaller preliminary rounds were held. Since 2013 you have been choosing your contribution internally.

Participation in the competition

In 2003 they took part for the first time and since then every year except for 2012 and 2014. The country came in eighth, seventh and two fifths. After a shared last place in 2011, the radio withdrew from the competition. In 2013 they returned after a one-year break and finished last and twelfth for the fourth time in a row. Therefore, Macedonia did not take part in 2014, but returned to the competition in 2015. In 2015, the country came in last, for the third time in a row. In 2016 they achieved a slightly better position with 12th place, in 2017 and 2018 they also took 12th place again. In 2019 Mila Moskov achieved the best result in North Macedonia since 2008 with a 6th place and 150 points, and at the same time set a new record.

For 2020, North Macedonia, like Australia and Wales, canceled its participation due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic .

In a total of eight of its 14 participations, Macedonia came in 12th, no other country was placed so often in this competition, including three times in a row from 2009 to 2011 and 2016 to 2018.
