Preliminary decisions

The SBS has been selecting its contributions internally since 2015 . A preliminary decision has not yet been set up.

Participation in the competition

On October 7, 2015, the final list of JESC 2015 participants and the participation of Australia were announced. The show was broadcast live, but there was no televoting due to the time difference. On its debut in 2015, Australia came 8th with 64 points. The following year, 2016, Australia finished fifth with 202 points. In 2017, Isabella Clarke finished third for Australia. In 2018, Australia took third place. In 2019, they made it into the top ten again with 8th place. Since its debut, Australia has been one of the most successful countries in the JESC. Every entry has always made it into the top ten. For 2020, Australia, like North Macedonia and Wales, canceled its participation due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic .
