This article deals with the history of Italy as a participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest .

Preliminary decisions

In 2014 Vincenzo Cantiello was nominated internally as the winner of the casting show Ti lascio una canzone . In 2015, a preliminary decision specially designed for the JESC took place as part of the show on September 12th. Fiamma Boccia and Maria Iside Fiore were selected by an internal decision in 2016 and 2017 without this program.

The respective contribution was not determined publicly.

Participation in the competition

After the debut of the small neighboring country San Marino in the competition in 2013, four years after returning to the Eurovision Song Contest, Italian television decided to take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the first time. The first contribution, like the interpreter, was determined internally. Italy's candidate Vincenzo Cantiello won the competition with 159 points, ahead of Bulgaria and Armenia, making him the first debutant to win the competition straight away.

In 2015, the country with the Scarpari sisters only reached the penultimate place with 34 points, in 2016 Italy came third.
