This article looks at the history of Wales as a participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest .
Preliminary decisions
A TV show called Chwilio am Seren (Finding a Star) was announced to identify the first Welsh participant. The final took place on October 9, 2018. With this preliminary decision she was also determined the interpreter for 2019 .
Participation in the competition
The broadcaster S4C announced on June 9, 2018 that Wales would participate in the JESC for the first time. It is the second participation in a Eurovision event after the Eurovision Choir of the Year 2017 for Wales independent from the rest of the UK, which competed three times between 2003 and 2005 (then under ITV TV ). Wales finished last, making it the only country next to Albania (and, in principle, Poland) that came last on their debut. The country confirmed that it will pull out of competition for 2020 due to the current circumstances surrounding the pandemic.
