This article deals with the history of the Republic of Cyprus as a participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest .
Preliminary decisions
In the Republic of Cyprus there was always a public preliminary decision for the JESC. In 2014 and 2016, his contribution was selected internally.
Participation in the competition
The Republic of Cyprus took part in every competition from 2003 to 2009 except in 2005, when they withdrew due to allegations of plagiarism shortly before the competition, but were still allowed to vote. The best place was achieved in 2004 and 2006 with place 8. In 2008 the contest took place in Limassol on the south coast of the country. After 2009, they withdrew from the competition, but the Republic of Cyprus almost took part in 2013 : support from the hosts NTU and the EBU had been assured, but they withdrew despite the contribution and interpreters that had already been determined.
In 2014 they returned to the JESC and achieved the second-best ranking so far, 9th place. In 2015, however, the Republic of Cyprus was unable to participate due to a lack of financial resources. But they returned to the JESC in 2016 , but only came second to last. The following year they had even less success and came last for the first time. In 2018 Cyprus will not participate.
