Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center is the largest sports arena in the Republic of Cyprus . The arena is located in the city of Limassol , holds 6,225 visitors and offers an additional 42 wheelchair spaces . It was named after the former President of the Republic of Cyprus, Spyros Kyprianou , and is also known as the "Palais de Sports".

The project was launched by the Cypriot Sports Organization. Construction began in 2002 and continued into 2005 at a cost of C £ 8.5 million (around 14.5 million).

Events

The sports arena has already been the focus of several events, including a. of the FIBA Europe All-Star-Game . In November 2008 the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 took place here.
