This article looks at the history of Sweden as a participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest .
Preliminary decisions
From 2003 to 2005 SVT was responsible and held the Lilla Melodifestivalen . When TV4 took over hosting in 2006, Stage Junior was used to determine participants. From 2010 to 2011 internal elections were held, and from 2012 to 2014, now to a lesser extent, the Lilla Melodifestivalen was used again as the preliminary decision format.
Participation in the competition
Sweden took part for the first time in 2003 and every year since then until 2008. With ten participations you reached a third, two sixth and a seventh place. So Sweden is less successful among the long-term participants. Of the eleven performers, only boys in 2011 and 2013 were. With the thirteenth place in 2014, the worst position was achieved in nine years. The broadcaster SVT has announced that it will refrain from participating in 2015 in order to restructure its children's program. In 2016 you will not take part either.
