The 10th Eurovision Young Dancers took place on July 4th, 2003 in the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam , in Amsterdam in the Netherlands . The host was the broadcaster NPS , which hosted a Eurovision Young Dancers for the first time.
Due to a format change, there were three winners this year. In the Modern Dance category , the Swedish dance couple Kristina Oom & Sebastian Michanek won the prize, while the Ukrainian dancer Jerlin Ndudi won the Ballet category . The Youth Jury Choice award went to the Czech dance couple Monika Hejduková & Viktor Konvalinka.
venue
NPS chose the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam in Amsterdam as the venue . It was the first time that the Netherlands hosted the competition.
format
Dancers between the ages of 16 and 21 could perform. However, only solo dancers or couples could compete. There was another semi-final, as the number of participants would otherwise exceed the time frame. There all 17 participants competed against each other, of which only ten qualified for the final. There was also still a professional jury, but instead of 1st to 3rd place in the previous editions, it awarded three prizes in 2003. There was one prize each for the modern dance category and one for ballet . Another prize was the Youth Jury Choice , a prize awarded by an external jury made up of young dancers. The jury members of the professional jury were as follows:
Moderation
The Dutch journalist and presenter Aldith Hunkar acted as moderator.
