The Bulgarian insurance company Armeec acquired the naming right until 2017.
location
The arena Armeec Sofia is located in the Slatina district of Sofia near Aviation Square and Zarigradsko Boulevard in the eastern part of the city.
construction
The decision to build a new multifunctional hall with financial support from the Bulgarian state in the Bulgarian capital was made in 2008 and a tender was initiated. At the beginning of June 2009 the State Agency for Youth and Sports (Bulgarian Държавната Агенция за Младежта и Спорта) announced the project presented by Glavbulgarstroy as the winner of the tender. The construction should initially cost BGN 107 million . In the election campaign for the 2009 parliamentary elections, the then Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanischew broke ground on July 2, 2009. After the change of government in 2009 , the new government under Boyko Borisov determined that the project's funding was not secured. Against the background of the global economic crisis, the government of Boyko Borissow was able to renegotiate the construction costs and reduce them to BGN 90 million. Construction actually began on January 18, 2010.
