Gente di mare ( Italian for "sailors") is a song by Umberto Tozzi & Raf . The ballad was Italy's contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 and reached third place.

Umberto Tozzi won the Sanremo Festival in 1987 with the song Si può dare di più together with Enrico Ruggeri and Gianni Morandi . After an internal election, Gente di mare was chosen as Italy's contribution to the Eurovision Song Festival. They reached third place with 103 points. Portugal, Spain, Germany, Ireland and Yugoslavia achieved the highest points. The winner was Hold Me Now by Johnny Logan , second place was Let the sun in your heart by the German group Wind .
